Chichen-Itzá is one of the new 7 wonders of the world and also the most important Mayan city of the Region.

Recently chosen as one of the new “7 world wonders”, Chichen-Itzá has become one the most important touristic attractions in Mexico. Chichen-Itzá is a magical ancient city built by the Mythical Mayan Culture. The name provides from the Mayan language: “Chi” means mouth, “chen” means well (as in water well) and finally “Itzá” is the name of the local tribe that lived in that area.
Its main attraction is the Kukulkan pyramid and contains over 365 steps. It is famous because of the feathered snake which forms with a set of shadows only 2 times a year during the equinoxes.
